DLF Retail launches ‘Mall Of India’ located at Sector 18 in Noida

DLF Retail, a part of the 60 year old DLF group – country’s leading developer of residential, commercial and retail properties space, has announced the launch of its most awaited project – The DLF Mall Of India, a retail destination designed, constructed, leased and operated by DLF Retail. The announcement marks the group’s entry in the NCR region and doubles its retail portfolio as it adds over 1.8 million sq ft (GLA) to the current 1.4 million sq ft (GLA).

DLF Mall Of India is set to redefine the world of retail in the country as it is going to be India’s largest mall, not just in terms of sheer area, spanning across 1.8 million sq ft but will also have 14 anchors, six customised shopping levels with over 475 retail units, coupled with the largest indoor entertainment city spread over 2 levels – which would have 7 DT star screens and the largest food court with over 1200 seats.

Strategically located at Sector 18 Noida, DLF Mall Of India will be extremely well connected to the three affluent catchments – that of South Delhi and Lutyen’s Delhi (DND Expressway), Noida and Greater Noida (the Greater Noida Expressway) and Noida and Mayur Vihar (Ashoka Road) and is expected to the destination of choice for Gen Y of the country as it reaches out to over 49 colleges and over 47 corporate giants present in the vicinity.

The mall was originally planned in 2005 to be completed by 2007 when it would have been the largest in the world, but it was put on the back burner as demand waned. Since then quite a few big malls with 6-7 million sq ft area have come up in China.

The builder is relying on the fact that the mall's opening in 2015-16 will coincide with the entry of a number of new retailers and brands into the country with the opening up of foreign direct investment in single and multi-brand retail.

By then, the rapid metro for Gurgaon and DLF's new 16-lane road would also be operational, feeding traffic into the new mall. A station on the new rapid metro will be integrated with the mall to bring in footfalls. The mall is being planned as a large retail district with a combination of open and indoor spaces.
