Is it a good time for NRIs to invest in Indian Real Estate?
During the last few days, Indian rupee has again taken a severe beating and reached an all time low of more than 56 rupees against USD.
Euro was trading at more than Rs. 70 and GBP (£) was trading at around Rs 88. Latest exchange rates can be checked on www.xe.com
While the Indian economy is in turbulent times with high current account deficit, is it really a good time for NRI investors to enter the Indian Real Estate or for those NRIs who have already invested their Forex, should they continue to hold on to their Real Estate investments is a big question.
Although there is a reported slump in the Indian Real Estate across the country in the first quarter of 2012, Real Estate builders are trying to make good use of the opportunity of depreciated rupee and huge appreciation in the leading world currencies against Indian rupee by attracting the NRIs.
Only time will tell how things shape up, although, investing in RE or staying away from it is still a big question.
